Love your neighborhood but outgrowing your house? An addition gives you the space you need without moving. Ace Estates builds home additions and extensions across Union and Middlesex County, from a rear bump-out for a bigger kitchen to a full second story. We work alongside your architect from the start, manage permits and zoning, and build the addition so it looks like it was always part of the house.

Two-story home addition with garage and stone veneer built by Ace Estates

Types of Additions We Build

  • Rear and side bump-outs. Extend a kitchen, family room or mudroom by a few feet where it matters most.
  • Single-story additions. New family rooms, primary suites, home offices and in-law suites.
  • Second-story additions. Add bedrooms and bathrooms by building up instead of out.
  • Garage conversions and additions. Turn underused space into living space, a home gym or an office.
  • Extensions combined with renovation. Expand and remodel at the same time, so the new space and existing rooms work together.

How Much Does a Home Addition Cost in New Jersey?

Our additions range from about $50,000 for a bump-out up to $180,000 for a second-story addition. Every addition is priced per project, because size, foundation work, structural changes and finishes vary widely from house to house. You get fixed pricing in writing during pre-construction, before any ground is broken.

Start With an Architect and a Builder Together

The best additions start with the architect and the general contractor at the same table. When they work as a team from day one, the design stays within budget and you avoid costly redesigns once construction pricing comes in. We are happy to recommend architects we work with, or to join the architect you already have.

Home Additions FAQ

I want to build an addition. Where do I start?

Bring an architect and a general contractor together early. We can recommend architects we work with and give you budget feedback while the design is still flexible.

Do I need a permit for an addition in New Jersey?

Yes. Additions require building permits and often a zoning review. We manage the permit process and inspections.

Can I live at home during construction?

In most cases, yes. We plan the work to keep the rest of your home protected and usable.

Should I build up or out?

It depends on your lot, zoning and foundation. Building out is often simpler; building up preserves yard space. We will walk you through both during your consultation.
